My jewelry creates a forum for common everyday objects by placing them in an art context. I juxtapose precious metals and cultured pearls with charms from arcade machines and fragments of old 45rpm records. I first create a metal foundation on which to assemble a collection of diverse objects. The search for these items is one favorite aspect of my work. I collect a "palette" for each piece, finding things that work together despite their distinct origins. I'm drawn by the indefinable qualities of each element and feel obligated to rescue little treasures that would otherwise be discarded or forgotten.
